The lab recruits undergraduate and graduate students and research engineers. The work is bench, hardware and instrumentation focused. A purely computational background without hands on laboratory experience is unlikely to fit, and it is fairer to say so here than after an interview.

Open roles

Research assistant or research engineer, optical imaging for medical devices

Working on time gated diffuse correlation spectroscopy, speckle contrast optical spectroscopy and microvascular blood flow quantification for neuroimaging.

Background sought. Electrical, biomedical or mechanical engineering, or applied physics, with demonstrated skill in instrumentation and hardware development.

Useful skills.

  • Optical system integration and alignment
  • Hardware control with NI DAQ or LabVIEW
  • FPGA development
  • MATLAB or Python for signal processing

FPGA driven optical brain imaging

Building a system that uses field programmable gate arrays and advanced single photon sensors to monitor cerebral blood flow in patients with acute brain injury.

Experience preferred.

  • Electronics and signal processing hardware
  • Instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Optical systems and imaging
  • Programming and data analysis

Undergraduate and graduate research assistants

Several roles across noninvasive optical imaging for neuromonitoring, cancer imaging and tissue engineering.

Background sought. Electrical, mechanical, biomedical or optical engineering, or physics, with at least 1 area of depth in optical systems, hardware control, signal processing, tissue optics or machine learning.
